You probably have not thought about it, just like so many other users on LinkedIn, but the background photo on your profile is another opportunity to convey your brand. While most users stick with the default background image, this is your opportunity to showcase you, your style, and your brand.
Besides your personal image, the background photo is one of the first things that a reader or visitor to your profile will see. Here are a few tips on what this image should convey:
- Your LinkedIn profile is an opportunity to share your brand. Your brand sets you apart from every other construction professional out there. This image should answer the question, what does it say about me? Personalize your background photo and make sure that it is true to the brand you are trying to convey to potential companies.
- You must think of this image as a way to communicate who you are to the rest of the world. This photo should describe you as a person. An image of your favorite place to visit, an image of a favorite activity you enjoy, such as camping, or an image of construction, to show your passion for the industry.
- Is there an image that would describe what you do or what you are passionate about? Perhaps you volunteer in the community, this would be a great photo to add. Perhaps you coach football and an image of your team would be appropriate.
If you have left the default background photo on your LinkedIn profile, then you must make a change. Carefully choose an image that will show your brand, communicate who you are, and describe what you do! This image will be one of the first things seen when someone visits your profile and needs to tell the story of you!
