If you answered yes, then you must change your way of thinking. Yes, there is such a thing as employee engagement in construction, and yes, you can have it with your employees.
Employee engagement in construction has been a challenge for many companies, however, there are things you can do to ensure you have it in your company, which will attract top talent. Here is how:
- Innovation is critical in today’s construction world. Job candidates and employees want to work for companies that utilize the newest innovation and stay current on upcoming trends. Make sure that your company is current on the latest trends, technology, and innovation in general. Include your current employees in discussions surrounding these areas and allow them to bring ideas to the table.
- Recognizing performance is something that is key in every industry. Every employee, no matter who they are, wants to be recognized for their performance. Make sure you have a great rewards and recognition program in place, and if you do not – start one! Recognizing your employees’ sparks motivation and helps to recharge them. They will fell appreciated, which will show in their work.
- Encourage and fostering relationships among your employees. You can do this by offering a monthly night out for the entire team, offering a catered lunch on the job site, or even putting together a bowling league. The number one reason why people leave their jobs – their peers and colleagues. Take the time to foster these relationships.
After you put in the effort to build ways to increase your employee engagement, do not stop there. It is important that you measure the engagement and make adjustments as necessary. Employee engagement is ever changing and something that should be reviewed constantly.
